ABSTRACT
Historically managed at a national level by discipline and uniformly organized, the French academic profession today faces a process of slow status, activity, and salary differentiation through broader reforms aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the French higher education sector on the international market. This chapter analyzes these ongoing changes.
