ABSTRACT

This book has endeavoured to explore and give voice to the rich and varied experiences of writers and to bring to the surface multiple understandings of what it means to be a writer and multiple ways of managing the writing process. The voices we hear in this book range from Summer’s emerging voice as a writer, through to the voices of children in both primary and secondary schools, and the voices of teachers and student teachers. We also hear the voices of professional writers, and, of course, our own voices as authors. In this way, we hope to have established insider perspectives on the complexity of writing: a kind of multivocal text which hums with the unique and the shared understandings of being a writer.
