ABSTRACT

This chapter examines each of those crimes that can be identified as an international crime (or an atrocity crime, a crime covered by ICL). These are the crimes that are prosecutable by international tribunals and the ICC. They are the crimes that attract international attention. Since the previous chapter argued for a necessary distinction between the character of domestic crimes and that of international crimes, this chapter now aims to investigate how well the crimes currently recognized and prosecuted as international crimes actually coincide with this categorization, revealing the distinct character of physical security human rights violations and the travesty of political organization.
