ABSTRACT
The "new evolutionism" breaks with the Marxist revisionist faith in the reformability of the Communist party. Rejecting conspiratorial methods and sectarian mentalities, it values openness as a means to overcome fanaticism and exclusiveness: ". . . the democratic opposition must be constantly and incessantly visible in public life, must create political facts by organizing mass actions, must formulate alternative programs. Everything else is an illusion."2
