ABSTRACT

According to the analysis in the previous chapters, it can be maintained that the EU, the United States and Australia, have gradually extended the use of biometric technology in their information systems. However, they have not shown themselves to be adequately committed to strict rules on privacy and data protection.1 Data protection rules will come under considerable pressure in the future as a result of the relatively open-ended approach to various privacy concerns when dealing with biometrics. Additionally, further problems may appear when the application of biometric systems is increased.
