We have noted evidence (Chapter 7, pp. 257-9.301-2). however. that the slackness or vigour and steering of cyclonic storms in the sub-Arctic and sub-Antarctic belts can itself be responsible for extending the limit of ice or open water. particularly when the activity is maintained over several decades.
