ABSTRACT

Creating an accurate sales forecast is one of the first and most critical steps of any sales manager’s job. Yet it is also one of the hardest tasks. Think of comparing a sales forecast to a weather forecast. Everyone regularly checks the weather forecast to see what they should wear for the day or whether the weather will be appropriate for outdoor events. Cities and school systems rely on the forecast very heavily to know when they should begin treating roadways and other transportation systems with deicing solutions or when schools should be closed. It is extremely scary to really think about how much our everyday lives and even nations’ economies are affected by the weather and large weather events.
