ABSTRACT

Ten years have gone by, and the phenomenon that is Anna Sokolow has known no real interruption. She is still teaching, choreographing, making public appearances, and winning awards. (Some of the most recent awards have been the Samuel H. Scripps American Dance Festival Award, presented in 1991, and The American Academy of Arts and Letters Award and the The Tiffany Award, both presented in 1993). In September 1996 a bronze plaque, with Anna's likeness, was permanently placed in Mexico City's Teatro De La Danza in honor of her contributions to the growth of modern dance in Mexico.
