ABSTRACT

Introduction It is undeniable that the process of globalization meets with very different evaluations, from strongly positive to directly negative. The clash between law and order on the one hand and the anti-globalization forces at numerous global meetings of the G8 or G20 testifies to this basic cleavage in the global community. One may enquire into the variation of attitudes in the globalized world, searching for evidence of cosmopolitanism, which could be the political theory of the globalized community. However, cosmopolitanism may not be one coherent set of values or value-orientations. Clearly, a positive evaluation of democracy enters into cosmopolitanism.
