ABSTRACT
Introduction The main objective of this chapter is to present the findings of multivariate analysis on the determinants of conflicts. Our research design for this chapter depends on two different perspectives – as mentioned in Chapter 16. First an analytical view on the determinants of cultural conflicts, i.e. with cultural conflicts as the dependant variable, is discussed. Then we turn to the ‘Huntington view’, where we focus more strongly on the impact of cultural factors in determining conflicts; i.e. culture is now the independent variable. Finally, we shall discuss non-linear relationships and interaction effects.
