ABSTRACT
Markets are now recognized as a valuable instrument to further the human cause for a better life. China embarked on bold market reforms from 1979, and is now the fastest growing economy and one reputed to have succeeded in eliminating much poverty. China’s success is now closely followed by countries like Vietnam, as well as many countries in the former Soviet bloc, all thanks to market reforms.
