School self- evaluation: patterns of emerging practice

Introduction This chapter gives an account of a review of self-evaluation activities initiated by teachers within their own schools, as distinct from school self-evaluations initiated by LEAs. The review was carried out at the Open University in 1981 and was first reported in a research monograph (James, 1982).
