ABSTRACT

Global temperature increases will result in sea level rise, will change patterns of precipitation, and will perhaps expand subtropical deserts. The Arctic region is expected to see the greatest effects, with the retraction of glaciers and a reduction in permafrost and sea ice resulting in extreme weather patterns, the extinction of species, and changes in agricultural yields. Water level rises will have catastrophic effects on developments and ecosystems that currently exist along shorelines and waterways that interconnect with oceans.
