ABSTRACT

EFFT is a useful modality when a child or adolescent presents with symptomatic or problematic behavior, a parent or parents present with parenting problems, or when a family presents with interactional difficulties such as constant fighting or bickering. EFFT works to prevent family breakdown or the isolation of one family member. The approach can be combined with other treatment models (e.g., an autistic child in residential treatment could also be seen with her family in EFFT sessions; Efron, 2004).
