ABSTRACT

One way to begin a session about myths is to tell either a legend or a fable about how powerful “legendary” figures sometimes call upon a god for help. Aside from making a connection between genres, the story helps make the simple and quick points that there are supernatural creatures whom we call gods or divinities, that tribes and societies have believed in these gods, and that many still do. These gods play different roles for different people, and they have been worshipped for different reasons. There are gods and goddesses of war, peace, hunting, harvesting, drinking, playing, music, wisdom, etc. Let us take Jupiter, for example, in one of Aesop's fables.
