ABSTRACT

Chapter 7 is the first of three chapters on business strategy. This chapter introduces the concept of “generic” business strategies, describing the objectives, characteristics, and limitations of the various generic strategies. Chapter 8 and Chapter 9 continue the study of business strategy, with Chapter 8 examining the formulation and implementation of business strategies in emerging, mature, and online business contexts. Chapter 9 also considers the unique challenges associated with developing a competitive advantage in manufacturing and service industries.
