ABSTRACT

After Bь transpositions, the most common transposition you will encounter is Eь. Alto and baritone saxophones, some horns, and some clarinets are Eь transposing instruments, so it will be helpful if you are comfortable reading this transposition. The general rule for any Eь transposing instrument is that when reading a C in the score, the sounding pitch will be an Eь. In some cases, you will be transposing up a minor third, and at other times you will be transposing down a major sixth.
