Curriculum exploration brought back some bounty, but generated even more cargo-cult – teachers desperate to achieve social control and a more flexible curriculum turned to novel techniques and innovations,1 like the Pacific Islanders who built effigies of American air force planes in their efforts to encourage the sky gods to rain down more food and trinkets.
