ABSTRACT

Of the organisms classed as microbes, only the larger members of the fungi and chlorophyta are visible easily with the naked eye. A few members of the microbes are between 200 and 500 µm in size and can be seen using a hand lens, but by far the largest group of microbes have cell sizes of between 1 and 10 µm. This last group require substantial magnification before they can be viewed by the human eye and therefore different types of microscope have to be used to see these microbes.
