ABSTRACT

It was back in the early 1950s. I was a candidate in psychoanalytic training. During one training session my supervisor, Dr. Jan Frank, 2 astonished me. He said, “We are, after all, colleagues. So, call me Jan.” Somewhere around that time he went further: “Why don’t you write a paper on scientific versus artistic creativity? Yes, you.” He dismissed my demurrers airily with affectionate insults.
