ABSTRACT
As route-finding becomes more complicated in every walk of life it is evident that ‘doing things by numbers’ is coming to be preferred, if only as a labour-saving device. Compared with the maze-run of a set of printed instructions (e.g. the notes enclosed with an annual Return of Income form!) the block diagram, the logical tree and the algorithm are welcomed because they are easy to follow and leave little or nothing to trial and error.
