ABSTRACT

The history of the United States is complicated and extremely nuanced. Rereading and rethinking it has taken legions of scholars their lifetimes. This rereading of American history is obviously incomplete. There are many aspects of history that deserve more attention than these pages allowed. My purpose was to conceptualize the race-based society more directly and tightly. I wanted to answer the question of how it was constructed and how it was maintained. The question of why it was constructed is open to Long's summary of Rawls's reasonable disagreements. My view was that race-based society was constructed for economic reasons. The ancillary effects of the race-based society were profound impacts on the politics, culture, and social relations.
