ABSTRACT

In 1990, the Research Network (Bazerman et al., 1989) asked me, as one of a group of young scholars, to produce an account of my research. They asked, in particular, that I describe how I saw my research as being multimodal and what I saw as the benefits and hazards of adopting a multimodal approach. The texts that I and others produced in response to this charge were intended to form the basis of a daylong preconvention workshop during the upcoming Conference on College Composition and Communication.
