ABSTRACT
At one time, the predominant Australian telecommunications company, Telstra, was a state-
regulated public utility. Since the early 1990s, however, Telstra has become a key private
provider of a wide range of telecommunications services, including wireless and internet
access services. The company has entered into the competitive fray to provide such services
not only within Australia but also in neighboring nations.
