ABSTRACT
This chapter will briefly review the history of qualitative research and its relationship to nursing academics in Japan, analyze a survey of qualitative research conducted in the field of health care, and focus on a critique of how one representative method was applied. Based on this survey and analysis, some implications will be inferred as to what developments should be made as we move forward.
