ABSTRACT

People are not pawns who simply play the role that is demanded of them in a change process. They are also individuals with their own opinions and interests, on the basis of which they determine their behavior. This behavior in turn contributes to the robustness of organizations. Insight into unchangeability is often a matter of hindsight. For this reason, we asked archaeologist Saskia van Dockum to look back on what has proved changeable and unchangeable in the history of the Low Countries.
