ABSTRACT

When it comes to catastrophic events (e.g., Pearl Harbor, September 11, tsunamis, earthquakes, hurricanes), a media outlet’s goals are to be the first on the scene and to show progress in the form of action. This captivates audiences, as they want to see what will happen next. Additionally, people volunteer in the wake of such disasters because they want to be part of something transformational. The common theme among these events is that action is needed in order for advancement to take place.
