ABSTRACT

The laws governing higher education are like a blanket: multifaceted and flexible. Although a blanket appears to be one cohesive color or texture, in reality it is multifaceted, consisting of numerous threads. The threads in the blanket of higher education law consist of statutes passed by Congress, laws passed by state legislatures, and policies adopted by colleges and universities. Each thread may have a different purpose, but they all combine to serve a common goal: providing a protective shield that is flexible enough to protect student and institution, employee and employer.
