ABSTRACT

Approximately 15-20% of women on testosterone implants develop a slight increase in downy facial hair after several years. The vast majority does not find this alarming, and it regresses on halving or omitting the testosterone from subsequent implants. Less than 1% develop hirsutism or acne, and virilism is an exceptionally rare finding.68 These symptoms are more likely when supraphysiologic androgen levels are reached.
