ABSTRACT

India has a thriving audio-visual sector. It is one of the oldest sectors of the economy: the Indian film industry is more than 75 years old, and the music industry is more than a century old. With around 800 dialects and 15 officially recognised languages, several religions, various styles of art, architecture, music and dance and several lifestyles from urban to rural to tribal, India is often referred to as a melting point of cultural diversity. Indian audio-visual industry has helped to preserve the country’s rich and varied cultural heritage, shape public opinion and safeguard the democratic system. This creative industry has also contributed significantly to employment.
