ABSTRACT

Fatigue is the most commonly reported symptom of multiple sclerosis (MS), with an estimated frequency ranging from 76 to 92%1. Many patients describe fatigue as their most debilitating symptom, a striking statement given other manifestations of the disease that may include loss of vision, bowel and bladder dysfunction and paresis. Despite the frequency and disabling nature of fatigue in MS, our understanding of its pathogenesis is incomplete, and a fully effective treatment has yet to be established.
