ABSTRACT

The role of the form tutor As a form tutor you are likely to be your pupils' first point of contact during the school day. You will see your tutor group more often than any other group you teach. In some schools form tutors see the same group of pupils through from entry in Year 7 to the end of compulsory schooling in Year 11. You are likely to get to know your pupils 'warts and all'. You will oversee their academic progress and be central to the management of their behaviour. You will be the person members of your form will be most likely to turn to if they have a problem or feel unfairly treated. Likewise, teachers and parents will come to you if they have concerns about pupils in your group. If you do your job well your form will remember you for the rest of their lives.
