The induction period The induction period is designed to ensure that newly qualified teachers are supported and continue to develop professionally. For those in a full time post, the induction period is normally one year. During induction you will be provided with a programme of professional development and evaluated against the national Induction Standards. These standards build on the standards for the award of QTS in the areas of collaborative working, behaviour management, contact with parents and meeting the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs.
