ABSTRACT

These observations showed how children’s biological interests are expressed and explored in a variety of ways – in curiosity and pleasure, in action and in feeling, in cruelty and in tenderness, in assertion and speculation, in careful observation and in the drama of a child’s fantasy life. Under Isaacs’ analytic eye, the raw material of her observations discloses a framework for understanding children’s learning and, in addition, a set of conditions that will ensure positive educational outcomes from children’s activity and enquiry.
