ABSTRACT
The parents of Tiratsou Baba Hambardzoum were from Kharberd. His father, Sargis, migrated with his family to Constantinople in order to free himself from the oppressive tax collectors of that city. Harmbardzoum was born in Constantinople in 1768. When he had grown up, his father placed him in tailoring. He learnt that trade successfully, but soon after he took up a clerical post with a famous Armenian architect of the time, Grigor Amira Palian.
