ABSTRACT
The fifties saw a small but steady production of editions of instrumental music issue from the Gardano press, which put out a total of nine books of music for lute, keyboard, or instrumental ensemble during this decade. Five of these were first editions, with another newly printed by Gardano but previously published by Scotto. Three are lute tablatures, two are keyboad scores, and the rest are printed in partbooks with mensural notation.
