Classifying and grouping are closely related. Classifying involves using criteria to decide which group something belongs to; grouping usually starts one stage earlier, with learners putting things into groups without the criteria being fixed in advance. A useful extension of classifying is constructing keys to classify a set of objects. The best way to understand how keys work is to construct one.
