ABSTRACT

Summary The Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (2002), dealt with the topic of how to create more favourable environments for ageing and foster intergenerational solidarity in various spheres, including in communities, if our ‘societies are to be for all ages’ (Sidorenko and Walker, 2004). One possible avenue in which solidarity between generations can grow is by developing intergenerational community programmes.
