ABSTRACT
Our general interest in the current healthcare reform lies in how it will impact the mental and behavioral healthcare system. Our specific interest lies in how these reforms will impact ethnic minorities and women. The healthcare reform bill specifically addresses 10 domains, 7 of which are relevant to our discussion here: quality, affordable healthcare for all Americans; the role of public programs; improving the quality and efficiency of healthcare; prevention of chronic disease and improving public health; the healthcare workforce; improving transparency and program integrity; and reauthorization of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act (www.whitehouse.gov/health-care-meeting/proposal).
