ABSTRACT

Reflections on good development, whether implicit or explicit, will ultimately be measured against their practical significance. This is not to say that they need to be “applicable” in the sense of delivering blueprints for political agendas, but that they must provide some contextually relevant understanding that can ultimately contribute to better development, rather than remaining normatively indistinctive or even tautological. This chapter will point out the specific contributions the preceding reflections may make to good development. Before doing so, however, it seems necessary to examine the precise status and the adequate form of such a contribution.
