Intelligent Buildings, Sentient Cities and the Ubiquitous Network Society

In 2006 the Korean government approved and announced the U-Korea Master Plan. It was the fi rst such plan by any national government in the world and it stated the ambitious goal of making the nation the world’s fi rst ubiquitous society. The plan was issued jointly by the Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) and the Prime Minister’s offi ce, a sign that the ministry had reached the zenith of its power and infl uence.
