ABSTRACT

In Chapter 6, we introduced you to factor analysis, in part to prepare you to read research reports using factor analysis to examine psychometric evidence for a mea sure with an informed and critical eye. We devoted a chapter to that statistical technique because it is used so frequently and because identification of patterns of covariation in clinical phenomena is a central concern for clinical scientists and practitioners. In this chapter, we continue with the same theme by describing a series of statistical procedures that are used as part of the construct validation process.
