ABSTRACT

SIR,—I am glad to find a Man of Learning and Genius once more in the Character of a public Writer. As to Politics, whatever may be your Principles, I shall not dispute them; for I have applied none of my Time to that Study. Thirty Years ago, indeed, a general Cry that the Nation was undone, created some Terrors in me, and had almost made me a Politician; but as I have heard that Outcry ever since, it hath long ceased to have any Effect, and I now enjoy my Fortune without any Apprehensions.
