ABSTRACT

First of all, we must admit that, judging from his writings, there is no room to doubt the fact that his knowledge of Buddhism was of a high standard and accurate. Moreover, it is very probable that those critics against Sailkara appeared not only after his death but also already during his lifetime. In fact, Sailkara himself explicitly admits in his MiiI,lc;lukyopani~atkarika bh~ya that Buddhism is said to be in close similarity to the Advaita of his pararnaguru Gauc;lapada.
