TheeastsideoftheAtMeydant,theancient Hippodrome,isoccupiedbySultanAhmetCamii,usually knowntotouristsastheBlueMosque.TheBlueMosque isthoughtbymanytobethemostsplendidoftheimperial mosquesinthecity,withitsgracefulcascadeofdomes andsemidomes,itssixslenderminaretsaccentingthe cornersofthecourtyardandthebuilding,thelovelygray colorofthestonesetoffbythegildedornamentsondomes andminarets,anditsgenerallyimposingbutgracious proportions.Itisoneoftheprincipaladornmentsonthe skylineofthecity.
