ABSTRACT

In 1989, 8 years aer establishing a private practice as a psychotherapist, I began a period of study and training in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis at the New York University Postdoctoral Program. It was a truly exciting time to be part of the NYU community: e relational perspective was coming into prominence, and the faculty included many distinguished clinicians, writers, and teachers. Varied viewpoints were represented, allowing for stimulating debate and exposure to multiple traditions of working with patients.
