ABSTRACT

The sphere of payment, as defined in chapter 1, is essentially complex, and its boundaries difficult to determine. It is, none the less, a compound of different uses of money, which are designated u1, u2,…, un so that any actual sphere of payment (at least, if this definition is realistic) can be reduced to a number of different areas, each one corresponding to one of these different uses. This is an analytic process, essential for explaining the way in which any monetary system is organized. The problem is to identify the bounded areas which are significant for this purpose.
