ABSTRACT

So far, little research has been undertaken to study motives and strategies of individuals who survived several mergers or acquisitions within the ‘same’ firm. This chapter analyzes tales of merger survivors in the largest Austrian bank, which within the last 15 years has gone through several mergers and acquisitions. The main research questions focus on:

What are the main concerns of merger survivors?

What are the main strategies to survive M&As?

What are the motives behind these strategies, in order to stay with the organization?
