Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) The Scholastic Aptitude Test, called the SAT, is taken each year by over a million high school juniors and seniors hoping to attend college. Testing time is three hours and covers material in three areas: Verbal, Mathematical, and Writing. The three-hour testing period is divided into six 30-minute parts, with verbal and mathematics parts alternated, and the order switched on different versions.
