Introduction As will become apparent from the foHowing chapters in this book, it is not difficult to show that the languages spoken by the different Turkic peoples are genetically related. The often spectacular differences between the subdivisions of the Indo-European language farnily are not echoed in the Turkic case. For questions of genetic relatedness, see Chapter 4.
